April Ross

April Ross, a beach volleyball star in the US, is among a select set of females who've had medals won in multiple Olympics. Alix Klineman is the newest Olympian and is set to join the team in Tokyo. Ross aims to earn her Olympic first gold medal however, she also hopes to earn more. The next opportunity she gets as she is 39 years old. However, she's convinced that top prizes are within reach. Ross through NBC Boston, said that if the team plays consistently or well they could win a gold. So I'm going to take the chance also. Ross was born in California in the city of Costa Mesa in 1982. She grew up in Costa Mesa with her mother, father and sister. Ross went on to play in many activities during her time at Newport Harbor High School. In addition to playing indoor volleyball, she also ran track and basketball as a pre-collegiate athlete. She was clearly the best at the sport of indoor volleyball. In her college profile, she played outside of the hitter, middle blocker and setter during her volleyball career in high school. For her efforts she was named an 1999 Gatorade Champion of Champions Circle of Champions Player of the Year. Her skills in volleyball brought her an Orange County Athlete of the Awards in 2000. Ross and Klineman began the partnership in 2017, however, Ross was a beach scene player for years prior to. It's true that she's won multiple big tournaments and one partner was a volleyball superstar. Ross teamed up with Jennifer Kessy from 2007-2013, and was also Klineman's personal trainer. Kessy and Ross were strong on the international circuit, winning a 2009 world title together. The duo were awarded silver medals at the London Olympics. Misty Maytreanor's legendary team and Kerri Jennings were the winners of gold. As fate would have it Ross became Walsh Jennings' new partner after May-Treanor's retirement. They took home the bronze medal in beach volleyball at Rio Olympics 2016. Ross was a student athlete for USC Trojans before starting her professional career. She played in high school and in years prior to hitting the beach professionally. The time she spent in the Trojans' ranks was a memorable one. In 2000 she was named Pac-10 Freshman as well as NCAA Freshman Of The Year. She was also named an All-American. The Trojans made it to the Final Four. Her personal life was tense after a devastating defeat in her sophomore year however, she was capable of achieving the All-American title. Over the course of her final two seasons she led the Trojans up to the summit and clinched consecutive national championships. Individually she had cemented her place as a legend winning the 2003-04 Honda Sports Award as the nation's top female collegiate volleyball player. Ross, who was a USC international relations student, was a renowned volleyball player. Unfortunately Ross mom Margie did not get to see Ross's daughter reach the top levels of beach volleyball stardom. Margie, Ross's mother, passed away in 2001, when Ross was still a USC sophomore. The cancer was diagnosed as breast. This meant that Ross remains close to her deceased parent. Margie at the beach as well as in everyday life, inspires her.
